Pergamon
ABOUT THIS WEBSITE

Pergamon.secondpage.de is a collection of visualization projects of ancient Pergamum created primarily for testing and learning visualisation and presentation techniques.

3D-VISUALIZATION (VIDEO)

The project was done without scientific consulting based on the publications "Altertümer von Pergamon", available from this URL:

In conclusion, parts of the visalization may no longer be up to date or based on misinterpretation of the aforementioned material.

GIGANTMACHY AND TELEPHOS FRIEZE

The images of the friezes are composited of a large number of single photos. These were not always taken from the optimum viewing angle and the perspective had to be corrected afterwards. This leads to a certain degree of distortion, so the heads of the gods sometimes appear larger than the actually are.
The Telephos Frieze was brought to it's original length suggested in the book "Pergamon - The Telephos Frieze from the Great Altar" by inserting gaps and removing some of the broken edges to achieve a similar look as the Gigantomachy.
